One Down- Seven to Go!
Thursday I was a warrior. Friday I was kickin’ cancer’s butt. Saturday cancer was kickin’ mine but today we are on level playing ground ready to start a new week.
I have to say, the first ‘ treatment’ ( why is it called that? There’s really no ‘treat’ involved) wasn’t that bad. My husband went out and got lattes and teas and when he came back, ready to watch our movie he said “See Babe, it’s just like a little date!” I had to chuckle. Geez, I’ll do anything to get a little alone time with my husband. The sun was shining and the room wasn’t very crowded. All in all, we were in and outin 3 hours. One down – seven to go.
Exercise is my saving grace- not because I’m trying to be heroic or anything, but it just makes me feel better. Don’t let me mislead you- I’m not training for a marathon or anything- but 30 minutes of movement makes the difference between feeling “pretty good” and “ not very good at all” - I think I’ll take “pretty good” .
It’s hard to believe that next time this week we will be in a Winter Wonderland in Western Canada. I know our families would like to see us over the Holidays, but he biggest present I could have is to be on ‘vacation’ from cancer. Just for a few days, to not talk about it- drink hot chocolates, go sledding and pretend like everything is perfect - if only for a few days. Who knows? I might even end up snowboarding- maybe just a little. . .
** Check out the castle we are staying in- Yes, teaching Pilates for the Fairmont has some perks!
