Some People Have All The Luck!
I tried to weasel my way out of getting this lung biopsy. In fact, we had it scheduled and I cancelled at the last minute because it just didn’t feel right. I should have listened to my instincts. My Doctor urged me to go ahead with the biopsy. They did them all the time, blah, blah, blah. The risks were very minimal and on very rare occasions people get a lung puncture – but that is on very rare occasions. Well, I guess I am the rare occasion. I’d like to tell you I am writing from my bed at home, recovering with some Tylenol. Instead, I have a tube in my lung recovering quite nicely with some morphine at the hospital. The lung has a slight collapse and the tube allows the lung to ‘blow back up’ – kind of like a balloon. I have had a lot of time to reflect and observe today so, I thought I would share:
• Why did I wake up early to ‘get ready’ to go to the hospital? I did my hair and my make up like I was going someplace special.
• Out of all the wonderful pieces of advice my mother has given me, why was it the only thing I could remember was “Wear clean underwear”?
• Could somebody PLEASE make a good looking hospital gown? O.k., I get the design part I guess because you have to get in and out of it easily, but my God, what with the hideous pattern?
• Why are people in the healthcare system some of the unhealthiest people around? Seriously, they have outside ‘smoking area’ where several employees can be seen having a smoke break. And another thing- hospital food. Not healthy. They gave me two eggs, bacon and hash browns. I think they want to insure repeat business.
• Last but not least. . .Why oh WHY do I ALWAYS get the loudest, moaning, groaning roommate in the whole hospital???
Good thing I get out tomorrow.

Angella,Angella,
Glad to see that you still have a sense of humor. I snickered as I read this entry. I completely know what you are talking about. I have only visted the hospital, but have made the same observations. So what about the biopsy or did they screw it up before they got what they needed? Thinking of you....

Dear Angella,
The first thought that came into my mind after reading your hospital stay was,"man that sucks! Angella doesn't deserve this". The second thought that came into my mind was "wow this girl can write. You are a truly talented writer - your humor, wit and honesty are astounding! There isn't that much I feel I know in this life but I know a good writer when I see one (avid reader talking here). I don't know if you've ever considered writing but if you haven't please do so! Stay stong, keep up the humor Angella - The candles are going strong over here! I'll call in a few days.
Love,
Kelley
